Very, very late, but here it is!
It looks like Burda FINALLY released a juicy issue. It is just my impression or spring issues are usually a little better than the rest?
But before we get to the nice stuff, let's get our hands dirty with some unavoidable ugliness:
Sorry, I had to include this. It made me laugh so hard.
Ugh, terrible.
Moving on and up a little bit, there a couple questionable patterns:
I want to like these blouses, but I just can't. I don't understand if it's because of fabric choices and styling, but they look so awkward to me!
It's so weird, the plus size patterns are usually classic and flattering design... Not really this month.
Now... Are you ready for the good stuff? There's a lot of it!
Favorite pattern of this month. There's also a shorter version made in a non-sheer fabric that looks more casual and it's equally beautiful, but the gown is prettier to look at.
Of course, this is not a boob-friendly dress. I have a C cup and I can't go braless (I feel too self-conscious, I just can't) so I'm crying a little bit.
Classic. Understated. Great blank canvas for a number of variations. Love it!
The photo sucks, but this is so cute! Very flattering, and feminine with a touch of retro.
Very cute! The gathering at the center front adds interest and femininity.
For once, J'ADORE the styling of the photo.
Vintage pattern of the month.
If you have the right combination of fabric and lace trim, this could look extremely sweet.
This looks very similar to the princess seam dress above, but I love the idea of the contrast trim.
Gorgeous lines! Not that you can tell shit from that terrible photo.
Again, cute and retro. Not the dress for me, but this might look spectacular on a petite girl.
Are you happy?
This was the last issue in my subscription, and I think I would have gone and buy it if hadn't received it. What about you?bur
I would buy that issue for the cardigan alone! That long vest at the start is AWFUL!
ReplyDeletehellooo,.. thanks for the review... I might get the march issue just bcoz of that jacket with gorgeous line... just wonder if the pattern come for size 38 EU or bigger
ReplyDeleteI also agree that the retro styling of some of the last pictures is absolutely adorable! That model definitely got the cutest outfits as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI so love your reviews of the burda magazin... and you are so right about the plus size patterns. They often looking like tents, sometimes I think they make a woman look fatter than she is in this patterns.
ReplyDeleteBut really? You liked that wedding-dresses? Come on. I'm not a pro in sewing, but I could make these patterns without the Burda. Last years wedding-dresses were amazing and not that easy like these.
I think I just like that jacket (second from below).
I think, Burda gets so boring... always the same patterns just a little bit different. Wait for the next issue... the preview looks like the patterns from last year... :)
So please, continue your reviews, I always love them! :)
Have a great weekend,
Teal

I'm planning on buying that issue tomorrow - it has some really usuable patterns in it I think. ( the ruched bodice dress is one of my faves) I also like the backless bodice - but not too keen on the apron-like straps!
ReplyDeleteI love the cardigan. If you could find the right fabric it would be amazing.
ReplyDeleteI've only ever bought BurdaStyle mag twice and one of them was this very issue! Both times, I only bought because I read yours and Ooobop's reviews ;o)
ReplyDeleteReally nice combo of interesting, flattering, and wearable. Might have to track this one down!
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing this I hunted this issue down on line and bought it, there are quite a few patterns I would make in there, thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI saw these on the burdastyle blog the other day & was quite surprised at how many of the patterns I liked. I totally agree with you about the cardigan and ruched halter neck dress patterns... so cute! I'm a downloader, not a magazine buyer so the patterns have to be pretty special for me to even consider taping them all together but I'm really tempted by both of these!
ReplyDeleteI will buy it, when the snail finally delivers it to NZ in about three months! I don't know if i'll do a sub though as am contemplating one of the other mags. Hmmmm.
ReplyDeletethat long cardi thing in the first pic is something I wore in the 80s and 90s so I guess it'll be back in the traps soon enough. Lordy!
my favorite issue in ages :) and, as flat chested chick, i can't wait to rock the bare back dress :)
ReplyDeleteAgree - the bad is TERROBLE! But that first white dress with the sweetheart neckline is adorable! The good stuff is GREAT!
ReplyDeleteI love these monthly reports you do! I seriously live for them!
ReplyDeleteGoоd ԁay! Do you know if they

Finally a issue I like!I'll consider buying this one just for the gorgeous dresses!
ReplyDeleteThere are some real winners here!
ReplyDeleteOops, you convinced me, I just bought the issue. Now to decide whether to go for a full blown subscription?! x
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a step up - lots of pretty options here.
ReplyDeleteI bought this issue before you posted your reviews for i could see a lot of cuteness and a little improvement. Oh, well see next month and I can't wait for your next month's burda reviews. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteWhat an improvement! I don't love everything you did (especially that last dress. I have an issue with shirred dresses, I think they look tacky - but what do I know?) I LOVE the backless dress but I have the same issue you do with going braless. Have you tried the silicon bra that adheres to the chest? I'm thinking it may be a solution. As always, I enjoyed to see what you thought! I think it's great that you're so candid.
ReplyDeleteНey there would you mind ѕharing which blοg platform you're working with? I'm ρlаnnіng to stаrt my oωn blog іn the near futurе but I'm having a hard time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I'm loоkіng for something completely unіque.

I'll go ahead and bookmark your website to come back in the future. Many thanks

For some reasons, for the last three-four years Burda's spring issues were the most successful. Or I am wrong? I do like the princess seam dress and the everyday version of the wedding dress, and I've already purchased some fabric for these two projects. If only I had enough sewing time *sigh*. My subscription will finish in April but I am not going to extend it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely issue! I'll go and see if I can still find it. I love the last dress, the vest and the backless weddingdress. Maybe I can make a wearable weddingdress? haha
ReplyDeleteI bought the issue, it is really lovely, or at least most is. I actually never look at the childrens patterns, I'm not a mom, I'm an auntie :) I really like the last dress you posted. Although I would make it with a flared skirt. I think circle skirt don't flater many people, and least of all me. I'm really looking forward to making stuff out of this issue :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute styles:) Love the little cardi
ReplyDeleteHi, I wonder if the patterns are in the magazine or do you have to order them?
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with one of the dresses ;-)
Have a nice day!

A bit underwhelmed by the March issue here. But then I never like the spring and summer ones as much as the autumn issues. I agree with you about the cape/parka thing; it may be odd but at least it's interesting.
ReplyDeleteOMG I feel so disconnected... love the vintage dress, you are so right about the correct matching of the fabric and lace, but even the classic black-white would do nicely. Must head to the store (however the last one I bought and intended to use it still untouched
ReplyDeleteExсellеnt goods from you, mаn. I've be aware your stuff previous to and you are simply too great. I really like what you have acquired here, certainly like what you are stating and the way wherein you are saying it. You'гe makіng it еntertaining and уοu cоntinue to taκe carе of to staу іt sensiblе.
ReplyDeleteI сant wait to read much more frοm you. Thіѕ is геallу a great site.

This was a really good issue, I'm sad I missed it. Some of those patterns are really very nice.
