Madeleine skirt

I finally tackled my first pattern from Victory Patterns and I'm so happy with it!
I made the Madeleine skirt, but shortened it a lot, since tea lenght doesn't look too good on a short girl like me.

This skirt was my entry for this week at the Sew Weekly and I'm so happy it was featured on the front page! The theme of the week is "buttons"and, if you didn't already, go check the contributors' creations out, because there some truly inspiring garments, as always.
If you want to know more about my skirt, you can read it here.

  1. The skirt is great! But I alos love that shirt. Did you sew that? And if so, is it a pattern from Burda Magazine?

    1. Thank you!
The blouse was RTW, I bought it in the sales, it was huge on me, but it costed so little. I refashioned it using the same bodice pattern as my "Apple of My Eye" blouse. Unfortunately it's a pattern from "La Mia Boutique" magazine, but it's the best fitting pattern I've found so far for my torso.

Yes, I think tea lenght would have looked disastrous on me.

  5. I wasn't initially a fan of that pattern- I think the length threw me off. But I I love your version! The shorter length is really nice. It's such a unique skirt.

These photos were like childbirth, the autofocus on my camera was acting out that day and I spent little less than an hour bare armed in the freezing cold. At least, I'm very satified of the result!

  12. per le custodie ho seguito questo tutorial
    http://duringquiettime.blogspot.com/2011/05/iphone-pouch-tutorial.html

    1. Thank you! It's my parents' home, it's on the top of a hill, they have the woods on two sides and the view of the Alps on the other two. You need to take the car to go everywhere, but the scenery is so amazing.

  23. Hello Paunnet, it is so lovely to see a completed Madeleine! I've just made a Hazel dress from Victory patterns & have also bought this pattern. I had lots of recommendations to come & check out your version- it's fantastic - I like that you've made it shorter for you too. I am not sure what I shall make mine out of & it is too tempting to make it the same as on the pattern (especially as I have some bright blue linen!) So, thank you for your interpretation, it's inspiring :-)

Is this (http://scruffybadgertime.co.uk/2012/01/its-victory-for-the-hazel-dress/) your Hazel dress? I saw it a few days ago and forgot to leave a comment. It's such a darling dress, I love how it turned out!

  24. I left a comment over on SewWeekly, but I wanted to leave a note on your on site too. I love your skirt and how cool it was to see you featured on SewWeekly for it.

I just learnt about Victory patterns not long ago and this skirt was immediatly one of my favs.

The blouse you paired with your Madeleine makes your whole outfit just amazing! Can't see what you'll be making next. :)

  25. I saw this dress when it was first posted over at the Sew Weekly and I've followed your blog for awhile now, but I just wanted to say how much I love the way you paired the outfit with tights and laced boots. I never get excited about shoes for cold weather, but I picked up laced boots in black and brown (from Italy!) after seeing several of your posts and I now feel a little better about leaving warm weather behind me. Although if it were up to me it'd be warm all year round! Thanks for the inspiration. :)

  26. What a sweet comment, thank you so much, Amanda!
I love autumn and I could live in boots (I actually do in cold weather). I hope you'll love your new boots! :D
