Swing dress sewalong

(Italiano in fondo)
I know I'm a bit late, but I decided to join the Sewalong hosted by Casey! I ordered a digital version of the pattern last year (to avoid the risk of customs fees and because I would have waited it for a month), and this is the perfect opportunity to try it, thanks to Casey's guidance.

I was quite disappointed by the pattern and I got a bit (ok, a lot) frustrated assembling it. I've used Burdastyle patterns before and I never had any problem. The pattern of this dress, however, took soo long to assemble: the sheets have no margin, so you have to overlap them going by eye and hoping in the transparency of the paper. Maybe I'm dumb, but it took me two hours to assemble and tape it all.

The thing that bothers me the most is the unefficient layout on the sheets, that caused a HUGE waste of paper:
As you can see, there are about twenty sheets that are almost uncut...

For the moment I traced and cut the paper pattern and I reduced the sleeve ease (to do so, I used
Casey's tutorial).

Finally, I decided I want a spring dress, so I'll use the short sleeves and a light fabric I had in my stash. Don't ask me what that is because I'm a disaster with fabrics! All I know is that I love the pattern and I find it perfect for the vintage style of this dress!

A little note: I decided to put the English text first since I have more international than Italian people dropping by here. BTW, thank you so much to my subscribers! <3

Traduzione:

  4. It's the first sew-along for me as well! I'm running a little behind because I'm in the middle of my university exams and I won't be able to cut the muslin until next week.
Good luck on assembling the paper! if you print it on very thin paper it'll be easier to overlap the sheets.
