Happy Birthday!

Hey! Today I turn 26 and it's also my blog's second anniversary!

I just can't believe it's already been two years.
I started writing here because ever since I started reading Gertie, I was so in love with the sewing blogosphere and I really wanted to be part of it.
I've grown so attached to this blog, to the possibility to share one of my main interests with other people and to the incredible support I've received since the beginning.
Thanks to this blog, I've been motivated to sew more, I've met some incredible people and I've been included in lots of amazing projects.

One of these, and definitely the dearest to me, was contributing to Deer & Doe. Ever since I discovered Eléonore's patterns, I was more than smitten by her talent and was a huge supporter of her work. We started emailing regularly, we decided to host a sew-along together and speaking of the huge request for an English translation of her patterns, she asked me if I was interested in translating them.
I'm a trained translator, and while I would usually refuse to translate into a language that is not my mother tongue, I am confident enough in my English sewing vocabulary that I accepted. And after some opportune proof-reading, the patterns are finally available in English!

I'm not a big fan of birthdays, I get embarrassed when I'm the center of attention and although I like to receive presents, I also love to give them! So, to celebrate little old me and my blog, and to show you all my gratitude, I'm giving away a Deer & Doe pattern of your choice.
To enter the giveaway, you need to be following my blog (please specify how) and just leave a comment telling me what present you'd like for your birthday. Please leave an email address for me to get in touch.

For extra entries, you can:

 Tweet about it (+1)
 Like me on Facebook (+1)

For each additional entry, please leave an extra comment below.
The giveaway ends on January 12, 11:00am GMT. Good luck!

  2. Woot woot! Happy birthday! You don't have to get embarrassed, just enjoy it! Three big kisses (that's how we celebrate birthdays in Belgium) and have a nice day!

(I'm following you as one of your 500 members. If you would pick out me - being the first, is that an extra chance :-) - I would like to have the Sureau pattern, your versions convinced me, no doubt about that. les_mademoiselles[at]hotmail[dot]com)

  11. Oh fun! Happy birthday to you and your blog! He's very inspiring! Without you I had never discovered Deer and Doe. And boy, I love those pattrens! A couple days ago I asked the Sureau Pattren for my birthday and I can't wait to start with it! (It's in French, but that will be no problem, I think)
So, anyway, I would go for the Bleuet Dress. I find it even prettier then the Sureau.

If I win (oh, God, then I would be soooo happy) you can contact me on fiencriel@hotmail.com.

And I get your posts via email and I am pretty sure I am a follower, not sure anymore. Oh, and to answer the question, I would love a Bernina sewing machine but that is waaaay to expensive a bday gift to ask for. (I have started saving for one, in any case)

I've never been inclined to purchase one myself, since they are in French (and it's hard enough for me to follow patterns in English, hehehe). :) I am so inspired by your sew-along to try out the Sureau dress - it looks so gorgeous on you!!

I just recently discovered your blog this past year... Not only are your garments beautiful, but I just love the way you photograph them also! I'd be interested to see a little how-to on photographing your projects, if you're looking for new post ideas in 2013. ;)

Anyway, I follow you on my Wordpress reader - I hope that counts! Best of luck to you in the New Year, I'm looking foroward to seeing what you have in store this year!!

I guess what would probably be best at this point is something that will help me with organizing my soon-to-be sewing/craft room. Either that, or a fun board game that I can play with my fiance.

  105. bon anniv' et bon annee, bon sante.

I subscribe to your blog via email and it was through you that I found out about deer and doe patterns. I have the belladone dress pattern waiting for my sewing skill level to match it! For my birthday I'd love some tips on good french websites for fabrics - I'm struggling to find any - can anyone help? Failing that, UK ones that will deliver to France.

  106. Happy Birthday! I've followed your blog through google reader for a few months and I love the things you create! Thank you for translating the deer and doe patterns, I have been waiting for the english translations so that I can follow your sew along and make the sureau dress! My birthday is not for a while yet but if I had to chose something now I would probably go with fabric or even better time off to do something with my fabric! I hope you have had a lovely birthday!

  107. Discovered Deer and Doe thru your blog which has become my number one go-to site for inspiration and excellent sewing advice. Ordered the Airelle and struggled thru with my rusty French so was delighted to receive Eleanor's email saying the patterns were now available in English. She credits your efforts in making this possible. Thank you! My Sureau and Belledone are already ordered, but I'd love to add a Bluette to my collection. I follow your blog via Google and Facebook.

Gosh, this is embarrassing, but I follow your blog by Googling "Paunnet" everyday that I'm online. So I guess I follow your blog with my brain...and that sounded a bit creepy. Anyway. Aside from a Belladone dress, I am hoping to get a dress form for my birthday this year. Or wool coat fabric. =)

  167. Happy birthday Anna!
I understand you, I'm not a fan of my own birthday either. As far as a present goes, I've been wanting a wrist watch for a while and every year I try to hint that to my friends and family. But for some reason they always get me something else, I guess I'm too subtle :) But that is fine, when it comes to gifts I am very easy to please :) And since mine birthday is January 12, winning this giveaway would be a sweet present as well :)

  173. Happy Belated Birthday! I follow you via email and I have a link to you on my blog http://dreamingofavonlea.wordpress.com/ (which is still in it's very early stages of construction). In an ideal world I would love my complete amazon wish list for my birthday - but I also wouldn't be displeased with a Deer and Doe dress pattern - loving Robe Bleuet and Sureau at the moment. larakrjacobs@hotmail.com

  174. Auguri! Che bel blog! I'm a new follower via bloglovin'! The robe belladone pattern is one of my favorites from Deer & Doe. I especially like the back's construction. For my birthday, I would love to take my whole family to Italy. I spent a year studying Italian abroad in Ferrara & Venezia; I'd love to go back and show my family some of my favorite hidden places. Warm regards from Alaska, Courtney

  175. Happy Birthday! I stumbled onto your wonderful blog during the holidays and now have purchased my deer and doe pattern for the sewalong. Ok, so I'm not sewing along, but rather sewing after the fact. Anyway, I've purchased fabric and on my way! I am a new fan of your site and don't know how to actually follow so please tell me if I am missing something. I just check your site every so often to see what's going on! I love your style!! Ok, what would I want for my birthday? More confidence to sew more garments! Or, to have started at an earlier age. I started my journey into the sewing world through quilting. I have since expanded my horizons. Ok, I'm addicted to the deer and doe patterns! Please pick me!

  176. Happy Birthday! I hope you spent a wonderful day treating yourself. Enjoy your next trip around the sun. I love celebrating my birthdays with travel trips. 178. Happy Birthday & Happy Blogiversary! :) And how cool that you made it possible for Deer&Doe to have their patterns in English, my French is way bad...
Hum, my birthday is still half a year away, and it would be obvious to say that I'd love a gift certificate for my favorite fabric shop, but my boyfriend and family always come up with amazing "experience" gifts like cooking classes or cocktail workshops or spa days (and last year my boyfriend took me on a helicopter ride) sooo... I'd rather be surprised? :D
I follow your blog with bloglovin', btw.

  179. I read your blog on Google Reader and really enjoy the sewing inspiration. My birthday is in November and usually what I want by then is to go somewhere warm! But I'd accept something for gardening, cooking or crafting. :)
