Burda 12/2011

With my computer broken and all, I completely forgot about Burda! The December issue is already out, but I'll share my picks anyway. Maybe it'll help you make a choice if you don't know whether to buy it or not.
Of course the first issue after my subscribtion expired had to be great.
Just look:

For me, this dress alone is worth buying the magazine. I litterally went "Ooh!" when I saw it. The details around the neckline and the midriff are gorgeous and I have a soft spot for fluttery sleeves. I'm sold.

This, again, is beautiful. It reminds of something I've seen in the book Pattern Magic, but this has the advantage of not having to draft the whole pattern from scratch.

I've been looking for a blazer like this for a long time. There's something about the shape of those lapels that really attracts me.

I think I've already written at some point that I'd love to make a trench coat one day, and this is a pattern I'd really like for that.

You can see the patterns of this issue here, as part of the Burda Archive Project.

  1. mine favorites as well.. together with coat from the magazine cover, and one red dress with a bow.. one of the best issues for months, i think.. should keep us occupied for quite a few days :)

  2. That first dress is lovely!

  3. Wow they're all divine and the colour palette too is so sweet. Can't wait to see the finished pieces!

  4. Oh wow, I love all of these!

  5. i love the first two patterns! the dress is sweet, and the jacket is so stylish. i would totally wear those. i wish we had an access to burda magazines in japan. i know we can buy individual pattern via burdastyle, but i imagine buying the magazine would be cheaper?!

  6. @vivatveritas
It's definitely cheaper: the magazine here costs 4,50 euros (6 dollars). That's why I usually buy even if I like just one pattern...
Maybe you can find the magazine online?

  7. yes i love the first dress too, are you going to make it? I don't subscribe but will definitely buy the pattern online when it becomes available! If you make it, let us know how you go, i can always do with a few tips along the way!! Or maybe we could have a "sew-along" :o)

  8. @jenb
I bought some fabric I intend to use a few days ago and I'm going to cut the pattern this week.
Now that you make me think about it, a sewalong would be a great idea, although I don't know if I'm confident enough to host it... I'll do some thinking in the next days...
Thank you so much for the suggestion.

  9. Ah well, i am not sure i am confident enough to make it yet! I am just a learner really. But you've got to practise to get better right?! I would love to see what you come up with though! I am envious of your skill and style :o)

  10. Hello again, do you know where I can get a copy of this December Issue?
